Vaccination Hell...

Well in prep for my upcoming adventure I made a travel appointment with my doctor. However, my doctor is out on maternity leave so they stick me with this very odd woman, Inez. First she asks, where I am going, the next question: "Will you be riding any elephants?" hmmmm will I be riding elephants...my response: "Absolutely" so that means Yellow Fever vaccine... so now I am up to 3 shots...1) Hep A 2) Typhoid Fever and now 3) Yellow Fever...okay then she starts asking what pain meds/sleeping meds I want for the flight...I don't really care so I leave that up to her...next thing you know I have 1) ambien 2) valium 3) adavan 4) zanex...I feel like she may have been trying to kill me...heath leger style...anyways...now it's time for the shots...the nurse comes in and she instructs me to lay down because "they are three big boosters and I don't want you to pass out"...first is the Hep A, left shoulder, piece o cake...then the other two...um..ouch...then sheridan passing out...yes, this 26 year old obviously isn't good with pain...I woke up finding myself still lying down and in intense pain...well good thing I can mix myself a pain med cocktail thanks to the strange doc. Can't wait to ride those elephants!

Bye Bye SF! Hello Bali!

Hello Friends! I hope all of you are well!

As some of you know I am set to leave for Bali July 24th. After months of contemplating I have decided to do it! That said I am doing a bunch of research to what I should do, see, experience while I am there.

I fly into Denpasar and will be staying in a small village in Benoa harbor which is on the bypass to Sanur. (in between Kuta and Sanur) During my travels I will be teaching literature at the Taman Rama School in Denpasar as well doing a significant amount of traveling…

soooo..that said, I wanted to poll all of you guys to see if any of you have either traveled there or know someone who has, so I can get suggestions/warnings on what to do/not to do!

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers!
